The process where the electrons in a neutral object move to one side of the object because of the presence of an external charged object. This polarization creates a positive and a negative side of the neutral object. NOTE: Only electrons can move freely through objects, the positive side of the object is because of the lack of electrons on that side and thus the protons (which do not move) outnumber the electrons and create the positive charge.
